India@2047: Making ‘Vasudhaiva kutumbakam’ a Positive Global Reality
Leading to India’s 77th independence day on August 15, 2023, I will publish a series of posts on how #India can become not only a developed economy by 2047, but also build an inclusive and sustainable society
This is my 1st post in this series.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declared that India will become a developed country by 2047.
But it’s not enough for India to just have a BIG economy by 2047.
Which country has a “bigger” one is increasingly irrelevant.
By 2047, I predict global leadership — ‘Bigness’ — will be measured not in terms of economic VALUE, but in the (noble) VALUES a country truly embodies and shares confidently with the world (read my article on “conscious diplomacy”).
Starting today, leading to Indian Independence Day on August 15, I will publish a series of LinkedIn posts on how India can implement and lead what I call KARMA-POSITIVE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT or CONSCIOUS ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.
Rather than pursue its economic development as an END by itself, India should use it a God-given MEANS to pilot and “scale out” internally first — and then disseminate globally — VIRTUOUS business models that are socially-inclusive and eco-regenerative.
Doing so will limit the negative externalities (KARMA-NEGATIVE) of India’s economic development and foster positive externalities (KARMA-POSITIVE).
Here is an article I published in Founding Fuel on how #India has a historical opportunity to assume global leadership in co-creating innovative frugal solutions to tackle socio-economic challenges — energy, education, health, water — that affect the whole of humanity.
I wrote this article in 2016, well before Covid-19, a global pandemic that sadly reminded us ‘Vasudhaiva kutumbakam’: The World Is One Family
Today climate change is also reminding us sadly that Vasudhaiva kutumbakam
Both Covid-19 and climate change have made us aware of a NEGATIVE & PASSIVE global reality : “We are all in the same boat, and it’s sinking” !
Innovative Indians have a chance today to turn “Vasudhaiva kutumbakam” into a POSITIVE & ACTIVE global reality: “We need each other to co-build a better world for future generations”
