I was thrilled to discuss my new book The Frugal Economy at Bengaluru Tech Summit 2024, Asia’s largest tech forum.

Given the dual social and ecological urgency — rising inequalities and worsening climate effets — India faces, it’s not enough to just do MORE with LESS.

India can — and must — do BETTER with LESS.

By building a Frugal Economy, India can foster regenerative growth where businesses actively contribute to human development and greater social and ecological harmony.

This frugal economy is no utopia.

It is rapidly emerging supported by 3 pillars (click on the links below to learn about each pillar):

B2B Sharing: https://tinyurl.com/2unpdx57

Distributed Manufacturing: https://tinyurl.com/22mf9pue

Triple Regeneration: https://tinyurl.com/yc3pvu7t

Using inspiring examples from the West and India, I showed how Indian tech innovators can embody the 3 Dharmic principles of cooperation, distribution, and regeneration.

In doing so, we can achieve both Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Self-reliant India) AND Viksit Bharat (Developed India).

The climate crisis is calling us to operate safely within the planetary limits.

But we must bravely stretch the limits of human imagination to develop India.

India is the birthplace of frugal innovation.

Let us combine our jugaad ingenuity, our millennia-old Vedic wisdom, and advanced technologies to build a frugal economy that truly benefits people, society, and the planet.

At the end of my talk, I was thrilled to receive a memento from Sonia Manchanda, *the* design guru in India, who introduced me to Bengaluru Tech Summit organizers.
